About Base 49

About Base49 Header imagesBase 49 is a near new chalet situated in the Snowmass settlement in Ohakune. Owned by a family who enjoys adventure breaks throughout the year, it's been specifically designed and set up to help families and groups get the most out of their adventure holidays, with easy-care facilities and modern conveniences for easy living.

Base 49 easily accommodates up to 10 people and is ideal for one or two families, or groups of friends. A 6-bed bunk room, two queen rooms, one with ensuite plus a main bathroom and open plan living spaces extending onto wrap-around decking makes it easy for everyone to feel as though they're not tripping over each other. A purpose-built drying room plus gas hot water and heating makes it easy for everyone and their gear to get refreshed, dried and ready for the next day. If you like to plan ahead to avoid the mad dinner rush at the end of the day, use the slow cooker to create a heart meal for the troops. And when all done and dusted, put your feet up to a DVD beside the gas fire or chill out on the deck with the bean bags, glass of wine and the sunset or the stars.

If (heaven forbid) the mountain is closed, the river is too high or the weather makes it impossible to go for a ride, it's a place where you can enjoy a bush-walk stroll into town, or sit and chill with board games, books, DVDs, music and the surround sound entertainment centre.

We're continually refining and improving the experience we offer our guests and believe that the smallest details can make the biggest differences.

The property is one of the most private in the area, with all day sun rising over the reserve next door and setting over the rural outlook from the back of the wrap around deck. Loads of natural light and the ability to open up all the larger doors creates an airy open feeling that puts you right in touch with your surroundings.
